Consulate of Japan
by blackhatgk on May.28, 2008, under Gaijin in Tokyo
Well, I finally got my certificate of eligibility or what ever it is called.. Basically, it was a little certificate stating that I am allowed to go to Japan and I am sponsored. So I spent the day driving down to miami, and working on the visa. It has been a long day. Almost 100 total miles driving. Get down there after all the paperwork is filled out and the office was closed for lunch(It closes from 12:00 to 1:30 for future reference) so I had to go to bayside for a bit. But of course I had already eaten lunch so I just walked around and looked at all the cheap tourist stuff.
On a side note though, did find “Real” rabbit fur at bayside. So picked some up so that my mother could finish making the daughters christmas sock. Yes.. We put real fur on the back of them.
So Tuesday my visa should be ready, and I get to do the whole trip all over again.

Lunch today.. Big Red Hot….
Waiting for the explosion that will be my ass.. It hasn’t come yet.. But when it does.. I probably won’t have the time to apologize to all the innocent bystanders out there..
So, In advance.
“I’m sorry for any pain and suffering my ass might bestow on you in the next 24 hours”
Japan Update
by blackhatgk on May.20, 2008, under Gaijin in Tokyo
So for you loyal blog readers… The ones who don’t see me and know already.. I am pretty bummed. Japan has been postponed by about a month it seems. Many reasons but this will all work out for the better. now I will be home for wedding aniversary, matthew’s birthday, kung fu panda, and wall-e.
And this will also give both companies some time to finish working out the kinks on this trip. So all in all its a good thing to have it postponed. Just kind of was a bummer since I was already getting ready to start packing.
Grad school
by blackhatgk on May.20, 2008, under My personal dribble
So I got accepted into Nova for Grad School.. Going back to round myself out a bit with an MBA. The courses can be taken mostly online or in their classes. I just haven’t figured out how this will play into Japan yet and if I need to wait to start school or just take it easy.
Don't you love the taste of bile in the middle of the night…
by blackhatgk on May.15, 2008, under My personal dribble
Have you ever tasted bile? I mean real god hates you bile produced by your liver and stored in the gal bladder…
Well, every once in a while. I eat before bed, go up stairs and go to sleep and then I wake up 3 hours later with my mouth filled with the taste of bile. This is a very bad taste.
The bad part is, nothing will cut the taste. You can drink a whole gallon of milk(Which will make the problem worst by the way by causing the gal bladder to release more bile) and the taste just won’t go away.
I would see the doctor about this, but 1) I hate doctors… 2) I hate doctors.. and 3) I don’t have any of the warning signs that this is more than just slow digestion of food. I don’t get stomach aches or pains.. I don’t get any sort of heart burn. Just if I eat close to bed time, and go to sleep, I wake up with the taste of bile in my mouth.
Just thought I would let you all know why I’m awake at 1:13 AM.
Shock to the system..

So I called the Consulate of Japan in miami to confirm a few things. Specifically how long will it take to get the work visa once I have my residency certificate in hand. They advised 4 working days and I don’t need an appointment. I just need to drive down there to turn in all the paperwork then drive back in four days or so to get it all finialized.
The bigger news though was they answered the phone in Japanese.. I know.. How dare they. Office in miami and they spoke japanese. On the phone though I was totally lost and dumbstrucked by the onslaught of japanese and had to ask for english..
I had hoped that my interaction with the language would be stronger, but I just don’t have the ear for native speakers that aren’t slowing it down for teaching yet.
But yes, 14 days till I supposedly leave and still haven’t gotten a visa. Waiting on the residency certificate and after that it will be another 4 days processing time.
Job update

Wifey didn’t get the job.. So looks like we are eternally stuck paying massive amounts of money a month in gas…
Random Updates
by blackhatgk on May.05, 2008, under My personal dribble
So, I did alot of yard work over the weekend. And shoveling all that dirt around and now my shoulder is killing me.. I’ve been putting hot towels on it all morning and the wife brought me a bean bag after her failed teaching “interview”.
More on that. The wifey applied for a job at a local elementary school. She really needs this job because we are spending close to 500 dollars a month in gas for her to teach at her current school. She was one of the chosen three to come teach a class. She feels like she did horrible because of two mistakes. First mistake she though class ended at 8:50 so she had the students put their stuff away and get ready to leave for 8:50 when the class actually ended at 8:55 so the kids had to sit around and chit chat for 5 minutes.(This is bad).. Secondly she asked the students when the 14th century was and one answered 1300 to 1399 or such.. and she corrected the student and told him it was from the 1500 to 1599..
Besides that she did well.. But in front of the Principal, Assistant Principal and ESE coordinator.. Those may have been two fatal mistakes.. Lets hope the other two teachers make worst mistakes… The wives mistakes were just because she was nervous and hopefully they will take that into account.
